November 24, 1946 - October 11, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Tom on October 11, 2020. He is survived by his wife Normande Adam, son Franz, daughter Anicée (Jordan Pavezka), brother Andy, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews as well as many friends and colleagues. Tom spent most of his teaching career at Ottawa's Gloucester High School Science Department. He was affectionately known by students, colleagues and faculty as Coach Holcz, Holczy and especially Grandpa Gator. He was both loved and respected by colleagues and students alike. Beyond teaching, he was involved with his students and extracurricular activities as a coach of cross country skiing, track and field and football. He loved to see his students excel both academically and athletically. Since retirement, Tom was living in the Laurentians with his wife, doing the things he enjoyed most: strolls in nature, snowshoeing, skiing, going to the movies, reading and enjoying good restaurants. He was also an avid globetrotter who loved to explore the world. His cheerfulness, joy of life and dedication will be greatly missed. A ceremony will be held at a later date when the restrictions related to the pandemic are lifted.
