Pete Forsythe
1966-2022

Peter Andrew Forsythe of Ottawa, beloved son of Peter and Nora Forsythe, passed away on Wednesday August 17th, 2022 in the Ottawa General Hospital. He was 56 years old. His sister Maureen Elizabeth was by his side.

Peter was born in London, Ontario on May 21, 1966. He was a graduate of the University of Ottawa. He was a commercial writer and an original and gifted teacher who taught abroad for many years in several countries, including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia and Kuwait. He also worked for some time in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Peter was exquisitely attuned to the suffering of everyone he met, and this helped him to connect with people always and everywhere and to maintain deep and lasting friendships with them across time and across continents. His absence will be keenly felt by many.

Peter is survived by his father, Peter Alexander Forsythe (Ottawa; originally of Strathadam, New Brunswick), his mother, Nora Maureen Forsythe (nee McCarron; Ottawa; originally of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia), his sisters Maureen Elizabeth Forsythe (Ottawa) and Anita Bernadette Forsythe (Stephen Kimbling; Vancouver) and his nephews Andrew James Irving Kimbling (Vancouver) and Owen Alexander Kimbling (Vancouver). Peter is also survived by his father's sisters Margaret Howe Russell (Strathadam, NB) and Doreen Alma Alexander (Port Hawkesbury, NS), his mother's brother Jerome McCarron (Regina) and numerous cousins on both sides of the family.

Burial arrangements were entrusted to Whelan Funeral Home. A catholic burial took place on Monday August 22nd at 11.30am at Notre-Dame Cemetery in Ottawa. Peter was remembered in a Sunday mass held at The Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Sunday August 28th at 11.15am. Father Virgil Amirthakumar celebrated the mass.

Donations may be made in Peter's memory to any of the charitable organizations that faithfully serve the residents of Ottawa.
